Russia submitted to the Security Council of the United Nations a draft resolution relating to the crash of the Malaysian Boeing in Ukraine in July 2014.
He told reporters the Russian permanent representative in the UN Vitaly Churkin.
According to him, for the discussion of the document, the Russian delegation has convened a closed meeting, which will take place at 22.00 Moscow time.
"We are in the process of consultations. We have submitted its own draft resolution. We called a meeting at 3 pm to discuss it, "- the diplomat said.
He confirmed that Russia continues to oppose the establishment of a tribunal to prosecute those responsible for the collapse of Boeing, which is provided by the draft resolution submitted by Malaysia.
Earlier, Churkin pointed out that what happened in Ukraine - it is a criminal offense, not a "threat to international peace and security", as stated in this document. "This is contrary to the Charter of the United Nations . We believe that the Security Council should not deal in these situations, "- the diplomat said.
"I am firmly convinced that we are on the Security Council should do their work. Some are investigating, others, such as journalists, writing about everything. We should adhere to the Charter ofthe United Nations , international law, the resolutions which we adopted earlier in 2166 (an investigation of the crash), and on the basis of this act, how to behave as the Security Council, "- said the permanent representative of the Russian Federation.
